I can feel my "regular people" hours slipping away. I was planning to start my new job search this week. Working for an employer again is going to be hard if I can't sleep at night.

Sorry, i'm trying to shake this distracted feeling I've been having lately. Maybe that's what drives fan fiction: escape from current circumstances.

That DS9 episode, "The Ascent", opened a big plot hole that no one ever closed. The Orion syndicate planted a bomb on the shuttle that Odo was taking Quark to Inverna Prime in. THat meant that they had to know not only where Quark was, but also which runabout he was going to be on and when it was going to leave, indicating the presence of a spy or an informant aboard Deep Space 9. While it's conceivable that another ship was travelling at higher warp (runabouts' maximum speed being only Warp 5, so assuming a safe operational velocity of Warp 4.2) was able to pass within transporter range and beam the bomb onboard, you would have to accept the risk of premature detonation, possibly failing to destroy the target. However, Odo never bothered to investigate anything and the spy escaped.

i have done more crying over the past 2 hours than i have over the past 2 weeks! these aren't sad tears. i don't know what kind of tears they are. but there's a lot of 'em.
2025 August 28: 11:52
sorry, gamers; i'm not going to be very entertaining right now. i'm kind of sad today. no specific reason, just an overall feeling of disenchantment i guess. it's a different kind of sad than usual; it's not really bad sadness, it's more the kind of sad you get when you leave home for the first time and realise you're not going back.

The Transgender Prime Directive: if you learn someone's deadname, you never ever use it. Pretend you don't know it. Don't even call them that in your head. If, for example, your best friend says his name is Zephyr, but you find out through some chain of events that his name used to be Chloe; his name is Zephyr. Moreover, if you knew him when he was still Chloe, it doesn't matter. His name has always been Zephyr and will always be that until further notice. If you accidentally misgender him or use his deadname in conversation, don't stumble over yourself or make a big deal of it. Personally, I pause, clear my throat, and say what I said again, only with the correct pronouns and/or name. If you don't catch it and they point it out to you, simply apologise and correct your error.
(Please note: I do not know anyone named Zephyr whose deadname is Chloe. If this describes you, please be assured I didn't know you existed.)

It never fails. I ALWAYS forget target="_blank" on links in this frame. ALWAYS. Without fail. So i gotta come back in here and fix my own damn mistakes, 17 hours after the fact. Especially when it's important information and we know no one ever clicks on links that are more than 12 minutes old. Even if you do, i've trained you to look at a link in this frame and say to yourself "I'm not going to click on that because Tina forgot to make it load in a new tab and so the formatting is going to break and i won't be able to read it anyway." Shooting myself in the foot is what I'm doing here.

I still see a lot of people saying their favourite game is wPlace. Well, maybe read this a bit?

it only took most of 2 weeks, but itch.io finally agreed to shut down my account. I don't see what choice they had in the matter, since i manually deleted or restricted everything that was there, so going to "badgraph1csghost.itch.io" wasn't going to be very useful to anyone.
anyway, so glad not to be part of that transphobic clusterfuck anymore. like i said, you can continue downloading my stuff a track at a time on the LCI minisite, and i'm considering rereleasing everything on the internet archive too. that way i can bring back source port's WAD file. i just don't have the files i need to do that on my linux laptop, i need to get to my win7 studio computer first.

Show of hands, who's surprised about Bluesky kicking trans women off the platform? Considering Jack Dorsey started the thing and they brought in a pro-Rowling transphobe onto the board last year, I better not see any hands go up right now.

one can only hope that yesterday was the last of the 90°F temperatures for this year.

shout out to the people who decided that sublingual oestradiol tabs should taste like stevia when they dissolve instead of, like, windex or cherry robitussin or diarrhoea or something. gotta be 1 of the best inventions of all history.

Itch.io say they don't want to delete dev accounts that have sold things so that the people who bought that stuff won't get locked out of using it. And I'm just like, REALLY?! Well, tell that to all the queer creators you wiped off the face of the earth, why don't ya?! What a lot of hypocrites! I had so much difficulty holding my tongue when they told me that rather than deleting my account, they would just put it as "restricted". Well, yeah, great, as though I haven't already done that manually. In amongst various other esoteric things, declining to honour my deletion request lets them pretend like they weren't adversely affected by bending knee to that transphobic PAC and their gaggle of corporate feudal toadies. "We haven't noticed any decline in our userbase as a result of this action," yeah because those of us you couldn't force out for a half-arsed breach of terms you're holding hostage when we try to delete our accounts on principle. Absolutely fuck Itch.io up the arse and back.

i have been informed that the word "clanker" in reference to AI- generated material is an anti-Latine racist slur. though i don't know precisely how, it doesn't really matter, so i've changed the wording of a past microblog entry. "AI slop" is more evocative anyway. the slop that gloops out of the weighted averages machine. that paints a more accurate picture than the other thing anyway.

idk if this means anything but ever since transitioning, if i cough, i'll sneeze 30 seconds later. if i sneeze without coughing first, i'll sneeze again 30 seconds later. that never happened before E.

On this day in 2008, the public radio station here in town gave me a radio show. The first song I ever played was the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. I think I did ok, considering I was 17. It lasted about 10 months. The manner of my departure made them change their policy and now you have to be 21+ to have a programme on their station. Oh well, fuck that programming director anyway. The only reason I remember the date is the Beijing Olympics: the Chinese have a thing about the number 8 (as in it sounds like the word for "wealth") and they wanted the opening ceremony to start at 8:08:08pm on 8-8-2008.

I really want to write this story in the Sims 4 section (which doesn't have any links anywhere does it?) but... like... I can't. I would have to demolish the Microcosm Rule in order to make this work, since I wrote the outline before there was such a thing as Sunshine Acres and I was making references to real places. So, I guess I'm just going to have to resort to traditional, non-Sims related writing. Not like I can't do that.

"Why should i bother donating anything to fuckin PBS, bro? It's all like piano crap and AI generated documentaries."
Why do you think documentarians have started going over to generative AI, huh? COuld it possibly be because there's not enough funding to make a proper documentary? Artists, graphic designers, narrators, and composers cost money, dumbass. And with the imminent demise of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (which is not a corporation so much as a government-funded trust), you're gonna start seeing MORE and MORE AI slop on public TV, because it's cheaper than doing real work.
"Okay, but that still doesn't explain why I need to waste my money when they've got all these wealthy benefactors though."
Wealthy benefactors? You mean people who can influence the directions that documentaries go? What happens when Liberty University or Focus On The Family starts underwriting PBS shows, do you think? What happens when "Frontline" decides to do an exposé about Boeing while being underwritten by them? The CPB provided a source of unconditional funding: guaranteed money for whatever a documentarian or investigative journalist wanted to show. If PBS stations start accepting corporate sponsorship, it ceases to be public TV and becomes just another corporate feudal monolith in a media landscape of corporate feudal monoliths. It's only $1.35, dude. Come on. A cup of coffee from a drive-thru costs, what, $5? And you get 3 of those everyday. $1.35 every month is like, you sneeze and some change falls out of your pocket.

I went with my mum to a clothes giveaway at the church by the park today and found teeshirts i could make headbands and tanktops out of. I also found a shirt from Silva Bros. Construction
which might be a bit small but i'm never cutting that one up! It may not have the "This Old House" logo on it, but it's as good as, isn't it. It's a clinically-proven fact: construction workers are 75% more attractive than any other kind of person, plus I've been watching THis Old House since as long as I can remember and my mum's been watching it ever since episode 1 in the '70s. The only thing about this shirt is it's kinda heavy, so I won't be able to wear it until it starts to cool off outside. But yeah, my little piece of public broadcasting 💙💛💙💛
Also, I may as well mention: the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was only taking $16.12 of everyone's taxes. That's approximately equal to donating $1.35 every month to your PBS station. Since the fascist right have predictably axed the CPB, it's on track to be fully de-funded by the end of this month, if you're an American, you can take over for the CPB by donating $2 per month to your PBS station.
