Tomodachi Life update #1

Since writing the Tomodachi Life gamelog page, I've added more Miis to the island. David Letterman and Jay Leno were followed by Hank Hill, another trans girl named Jemma, and Riza's Mii. Also, we tested out local netplay last night and I sent her David Letterman in exchange for Steve Harvey. She also sent me several food items and a paper crown that she got from... somewhere. I don't know.

That seems like a good place to mention NetPass. I didn't think anything would happen on this front at all, like it was as full of cobwebs and dust as the Wii Shop Channel was during the Wii U era. It turns out I was wrong about that. While NetPass is probably nowhere near as vibrant as the original Streetpass scene was, there's still enough people using it to make it seem less like Riza and I are the only ones in the plaza. I wrote on my microblog that, in the amount of time I'd had NetPass installed, I got 10 Miis in the plaza, 9 imports in Tomodachi Life, and 3 new houses added to New Leaf's Happy Home Showcase. By the time I went to bed last night, we got those numbers up 14 Miis and 12 imports (no more houses, unfortunately; but give it a couple hours).

One of those import boats into Greenweed Island harbour also had a visitor on board, Bayley from Dick Island, Pennsylvania; which unlocked the campground. She had a sore throat, so I gave her some cold medicine and a Spanish omelet. You know, like you do. Apparently, overnight, she had been chatting with Banshee in the café and left Greenweed Island with Happiness level 2. Riza and I can't figure out how to get our own villagers to travel abroad yet, but it's only a matter of time.

One of my villagers, Mickey-- this is Mickey...

...Decided he desired Brody carnally, so he asked me the best line I knew to get Brody interested. This is Brody.

Brody wants a new hat.

Anyway, I decided, "down to fuck?" (well, "down to fukk", actually, since the game has that prudish list of bad words) was the most direct line to an answer I could think of, so after never having spoken to Brody before and barely knowing him even as a face in the corridors at home, Mickey invited Brody to the beach and asked him if he was down to fuck. Predictably, Brody just looked at him for a second before going, "uh, sorry, you're not really my type." I wasn't intentionally setting Mickey up to fail, like Riza did with gremlin and Steve Harvey (she wrote this whole gamelog about it, have you seen it yet?), because the game was going to run RNG regardless, I just figured it would be funny if Mickey asked Brody "down to fuck?" And he genuinely WAS down to fuck. So far, Mickey is the only one to profess love for another villager, but that was enough to open up several new facilities on the island. Mickey was surprisingly much easier to console and could take rejection much easier than in Riza's "gremlin x Steve Harvey" tale, even though he approached Brody again, this time offering a gift of cough medicine, hoping that would do the trick and was rebuffed again. Mickey went home, told me, "Well, that's it then. I feel much better now." and stopped being sad immediately. Despite getting rejected for romance, I did catch Brody and Mickey hanging out at Mickey's place, so I guess they're friends now?

Several of the villagers have written songs at this stage. Mostly about tearing down capitalist power structures and wanting to be gay. It's pretty entertaining listening to Gina's pop song about stealing games from Nintendo, Banshee's metal song about wanting a girl to get her pregnant, and Mickey's rap about Spongebob Squarepants being gay for Squidward Tentacles.

Getting back to relationships for a moment, Tina and Gina are spending a lot of time together. More often than not, either Gina is at Tina's or Tina is at Gina's. Today, they played emulators on Tina's computer. Yesterday, they had their pictures taken together.
