Houses

Princess and the Pad

Princess and the Pad (Mimi's House)
Once upon a time, the princess decided she didn't want anything to do with her dad's real estate empire, so she escaped to the suburbs and had this house built for her to live happily ever after in.

Bedrooms: 2
Bathrooms: 1
House type: Ranch
Max. occupancy: 2
A rebuild of Mimi's House from The Sims: Bustin' Out for Nintendo GameCube with slight adaptations. The main difference, apart from necessary furnishing substitutions, is the back garden.

ModFunk Retro Pad

ModFunk Retro Pad (Dudley's Trailer)
Sometimes, all it takes is a glance at the lot to tell what kind of sim lives there. Based upon the general air of apathy surrounding this house, not to mention the atrocious state of the lawn, it's probably safe to say it's not a millionaire's son.

Bedrooms: 2
Bathrooms: 1
House type: Double-wide trailer with adaptations
Max. occupancy: 2
A rebuild of Dudley's Trailer from The Sims: Bustin' Out for Nintendo GameCube with slight adaptations. Having insufficient space along the back of the lot for Mortimer's Fern, it appears outside the master bedroom window instead.

Households

Mimi Landgrabb

Mimi
Mimi was always the favourite for taking over the family business, but she decided she wanted nothing to do with her dad's grody, old, new office complex and headed for the 'burbs. Her house is like her personality: ostentatious, girly, and a little frightening—she wouldn't have it any other way.

Dudley Landgrabb

Dudley
Once Dudley's inheritance came through, he took the money and got as far away from his dad's real estate empire as he possibly could. He now spends his time eating chips and watching judge shows on daytime TV. As for a job? What possible use could a millionaire layabout have for a job?

Story

Mimi and Dudley, the children of Malcolm and Holly Landgrabb, were away at university until fairly recently. Dudley, who was going to La Fiesta Tech, was known as a party animal who swilled beer and chased tail. He rarely went to class, instead paying the geeks handsomely to do his homework for him. This caused him to get kicked down to remedial algebra and kicked out of economics altogether, but he simply changed his major again to avoid being expelled. Mimi, who was going to Simcinnati State, was a comrade in the campus' communist guild, whose speciality was basket-weaving. Her affinity for cannabis earned her the nickname "Dreamy Mimi", and she also experimented with burning various other kinds of plants for smoke, ending up in hospital on 2 separate occasions. While she was quite straight-laced for her first year—performing well academically and attending various school functions—she had followed her friend, Tivi Rudis, to Communist Night and realised after hearing the speaker that she was working for "Them"; this shook her so hard that she joined the guild and stopped going to class. Rather than working for the shadowy "Them", Mimi decided her time could be better spent on practical things, like gardening, crafting, and painting over establishment art in the campus gallery (and running faster than the security guards).

Dudley was getting bored of partying all the time and Mimi was concerned that her father would compel her into taking over the family business; until one day, the news reached them that their estranged mother had died and she named Dudley and Mimi sole inheritors of her entire fortune, in a will that also instructed the executor of the estate to remove Malcolm's top-hat from his head and stomp on it. This meant they each received §15 million. While still a pale shadow of their father's wealth, they have zero demonstrable interest in real-estate and they both took the money and ran.

For whatever reason, Dudley bought a trailer and set it down somewhere stupid on the other side of the hill from Sunshine Acres. He'd wanted to set it by Shipper's Creek, but apparently the town council was not interested in having another trailer in town, so he settled for just outside the city limits. He now spends his days eating crisps, watching reality TV, and playing videogames while doing absolutely no work.

Mimi, on the other hand, designed a ranch house and had it built for her in Sunshine Acres proper. Her second bedroom, originally intended for worker's quarters, she decided was too bourgeois, and intends to ask Tivi to live with her once she graduates. After all, fashion designers don't need much space, right?

Due to some dalliance on the part of their father, they're the half-siblings of Cindy Samples.

Inspiration

Before you say anything, I know it's properly spelt "Landgraab" (double A's). Whoever wrote the screen text for the GameCube version of Bustin' Out used "Landgrabb" (double B's). Since I nicked the characters and their houses from Bustin' Out in the first place, I left the spelling mistake in for accuracy. In the name of this page's HTML file, I split the difference and doubled all the letters because it's my website and I can do that kind of thing.

If you followed me on Cohost, you might have seen me talk about a household called "LeBrand", that I based upon Mimi and Dudley without actually being Mimi and Dudley. I decided that this was a good idea, but I wanted some link to established Sims storylines in this neighbourhood and decided the real Mimi and Dudley needed to appear.

I'm pretty sure Mimi's head mesh and skin was made by someone at SimFreaks, but I'm not really sure. Whoever uploaded it to the Date Exchange in 2012 renamed it so it doesn't use anyone's naming convention anymore. In general, I've been trying to avoid using CC from people who aren't me in Sunshine Acres, and Mimi is probably going to be the only exception to this rule, only because there's no suitable pigtails mesh for adults in the stock game, and I sure can't make one myself. Her body skin, however, is a backing dancer outfit from Superstar (I think).

Dudley's head is from the "DJ SimDaddy" set that Maxis released ahead of House Party; I made his body skin myself.
