New obsession unlocked: Terraria for 3DS

I think Riza is starting to regret asking me to play Terraria, just because of the sheer amount of time I spend playing it. Quite honestly, I'm not sorry. It has all the immediacy of Doom while having the creativity of The Sims or Animal Crossing. I'm not a great fan of The Corruption (an area of the map where it's purple and spooky) or the random ass evil fortress, but I love the mining and crafting aspect. It's actually a good thing that I'm playing the 3DS version, given it has been locked into a single game mode with no mod options. I don't think I would ever come up for air if I had the PC version.

I'm not real sure why, but I've stopped playing with Kaylee or her sister, Kelsey, at this point, and was playing with Marlo and now his brother, Louis. Yeah, Marlo was dressed in red and blue; guess what Louis' outfit looks like. Anyway, the world I started with Marlo— Greenweed— is now Louis' world, since Marlo got killed by a scary girl in a cavern and decided to retire when he respawned. Louis is currently trying to get to the center of the earth, just as Kaylee was. In contrast to Marlo, Louis is doing quite a bit of mining. He's dug up mostly iron, tungsten, and copper, but I could swear I found gold one time, and certainly platinum has high stats. Louis has delved so deep that he's already below the glowing mushroom caverns. And I keep digging.

Riza said that, when she asks people if they've played Terraria, typically 1 of 2 things happens. 1, they say "yes" and the conversation ends there. Or 2, they say "no", give it a go, and immediately get obsessed. Well, I'm 2. Yes, that's right, she sleeps with a girl who has the night overworld theme from Terraria playing on loop in her head at all times.
