Casting Call

TADC Admins & Abstracts Audiobook

I'm looking for additional voice actors to help me complete an audiobook version of The Amazing Digital Circus: Admins & Abstracts fan-fiction. The final product will be published only on this website, on the chapters' individual pages, and nowhere else.

I can't really promise any payment because I have no money, so yeah. Sorry, I know that's a deal-breaker for a lot of you.

The requirements are that you are familiar with The Amazing Digital Circus, because the episodes' screenplays have a specific pacing and dialogue delivery that we will be replicating here. Also, you need to be able to sound more or less like the character you're auditioning for. For instance, Pomni sounds like the girl across the hall in everyone's college dorm, not like a 65-year-old diesel-dyke, if you catch my meaning. Finally, AI-generated or AI-assisted auditions are NOT ALLOWED. There will be NO GENERATIVE AI used to produce this audiobook.

Requirements

To audition, select a line from the show that you feel best demonstrates your character's emotional depth. Please audition using the same microphone you will use to record yourself if selected.

Obviously, Lee Mateo's parents were never seen or heard. I'm thinking of a sort of blah 35-year-old woman and an aggro 40-year-old man.

Please use only a cardioid microphone. While you may master your audition if you wish, please do not master your recorded dialogue if selected for a character. I will do all the mastering myself in order to create continuity.

Auditions need to be in FLAC format and not contained in an archive file of any kind

When recording, make sure to record your lines in a location where you can minimise the amount of room reverb that gets delivered to the microphone. Also, use a pop filter to prevent unwanted stop-plosive airflow hitting the microphone.

Once a character is cast, they're cast. Barring any unforeseen difficulties, I will not recast a part.

Thanks for your interest! Send your auditions to this address:

Email address

In your email, tell me what name you want to go by in the cast list and what character you're auditioning for. If you audition, don't expect to see your name here immediately-- it's not a "first-come/first-served" type deal. There will probably be other people trying out for the same role. Well, unless you, like, completely blow me away on the first go :P
If you get selected, I'll send you a screenplay in PDF format. I know, technically, you could work from the novel itself, but a screenplay would make it easier on everyone. This way, I can add emotion indicators and stuff like that, which will make it easier for you.

But, if your initial email doesn't contain your name and the name of the character you're trying out for, I'll dismiss your audition out of hand.

"Oh, she just wants to make a genAI speech synthesiser out of my voice." Maybe you didn't see this on your way in.
