As though we don't have enough to deal with in the fallout of the 2024 election, now we have senate republicans actively trying to pretend like Trump never did anything wrong.. A bill has been introduced in the senate called the "No Kings act", which would force Trump to face criminal punishment for his role in the January 6th uprising attempt by reasserting the role of Congress in determining how laws are applied and to whom. Of course, the republicans are against this idea, because they need their God King in office so they can install him as absolute ruler.
To dispel any confusion, the No Kings Act is good. It will overturn the (majority fascist) Supreme Court's "presidential immunity" decision and force Donald Trump to face the consequences of fomenting insurrection. The democrats are all in support of SB-4973, so it's now up to us to convince our republican representatives to support it. The only way I can think of is to scare them into it by suggesting that letting it die in the senate would allow Joe Biden the authority to have Trump killed and walk away scot free because "Oh, he's the president, laws don't apply to him."
To that end, I've prepared a copypaste message we can all send to our republican senators and congressmen. Don't hesitate! We need to get our opinions in before it gets sent to the senate floor. Right now, it's on the agenda, but it's got several bills ahead of it. You can either copy this message and paste it into a message to the politicians' websites (you can use the official Congressional website to look up your reps' contact forms by entering your ZIP code), or you can use it to leave a voice message to them over the telephone.
Subject should be something to the effect of "crime" or "public safety", whatever's there. If a subject line is offered, enter "Support SB-4973".
Please impress upon the [senator/representative] that, if [he/she] does not support the No Kings Act, Joe Biden will be well within his rights to eliminate Donald Trump with no recourse available to the republican party. Thank you.
If your reps are democrats, great! You don't need to do a thing because they're all going to vote in favour of it. This information is only for those of us unlucky enough to live in red states.
