I watched 101 of The Jetsons last night for something to do. Well, we hit a snag right off when Jane and Judy reveal their ages. In order for 33-year-old Jane to have 15-year-old Judy, she would have needed to give birth when she was 18. So, even assuming Jane's birthday is in January, and Judy's is in October, we have 28-year-old George getting 18-year-old Jane pregnant 15 years before the show starts. Don't talk to me about "it was a different time". That just gives too much squick for me to carry on watching.

i've been really down for a couple days, but the exact reasons why are private. so, yeah. if you were wondering why i haven't seemed to do anything with the site lately, that's why. i'm sad.

if my "go somewhere else" button array looks a little cockeyed at the moment, it's because i've taken a lot of links away. neocities has gotten some troubling backend updates lately so i'm not recommending that anymore. also, there's no sense recommending the youtube frontends anymore because of the monopoly. finally, floodgap's gopher proxy is still being bled dry by AI scrapers and there's no benefit to using javatari instead of the internet archive's console living room. the internet is dying, gamers.

how does someone who has used chatgpt to generate large segments of their website come onto my landing page, see the big green sign that says "AI sucks and if you disagree then you suck too", and think "yep this looks like my kind of site, im gonna follow her"?

R texted me earlier to tell me that she suffered a profound data loss. as a datahoarder, i feel accidental deletions in my soul. when my old sd card died with all of my pre-2016 journal entries on it, i basically sat shiva for it. when i accidentally deleted the original version of an important file when i thought i was deleting the copy, i physically hit myself and called myself an idiot. i still have files that i only worked on once for 15 minutes in 2014 and then never opened again. i have various different versions of the same file because what if i decide xyz old version was better? i haven't opened it since the obama administration, but like, what if?

New song to add to the list of music i've cried at:
"The Great Pumpkin Waltz" (Vince Guaraldi, 1966 CBS)

There would be more in the dream diary, except that i keep forgetting my dreams before i can get here to write about them. On the other hand, occasionally i remember old dreams so maybe i should write about those? I don't have exact dates for them, but i can guess based on how old i was at the time.

it's such a luxury, being able to drive to the grocery store on the furthest reaches of town along a county road, singing along with my favourite mixtape. when my sedan still worked, i took that for granted. now that i have my new used car, i'm never taking that for granted again. i didnt realise how much of an effect not being able to sing along with '80s pop hits affected my mental health. my life has gotten loads better from where i was just this same time last year. the world may be crumbling around me, but in my little scope of it, i'm happy right now. i'll spread that happiness where i can.

I thought this was fake, but it's actually real. Nintendo truly is charging $149 on top of the cost of the Nintendo Switch hardware to play Virtual Boy games. What the actual hell. I'm just so tired, bro... Furukawa's lost his mind I guess. $100 for a special Virtual Boy shaped thing to stick your face into, $50 for the NSO+EP subscription, and you may as well spend $500 on the Switch 2 while you're at it! For the love of all that is green and good in this world, make this your time to get into computer-based emulation. Are you on Windows? Get an emulator from Zophar's. Are you on Linux? Here's Mednaffe, an easy-to-use frontend for Mednafen (included). I'm leaving it up to you to find your own ROM files though. Just, for your own mental health, STOP GIVING NINTENDO YOUR MONEY.

Instead of staying mired in American news all the time, stewing over the fallout from the death of a single fascist influencer, maybe direct your energy toward real action for mass murder and focus on things happening in other countries.

•I would like to get Japanese and Brazilian news on here. It doesn't matter if it's in Japanese or Portuguese, either; because Firefox-deriv web browsers have built-in page translators. It might lack some of the nuance of the original text, but it'll help you get the gist.

"what about xyz thing charlie kir--" no. surely you have better things to do than wax philosophical about a dead fascist. i certainly do. quite honestly, even mentioning it again is a waste of my time, but some people need more of a hint, so here. any further requests for comment on the matter will be ignored.

I've seen a lot of people saying stuff like "good shot but wrong target" about Unlucky Chucky at this stage, talking about him like he was just a small-time influencer instead of the major fascist power-broker that he was. Let's put it another way— do you think that a single person in Auschwitz would have objected if someone shot Josef Mengele? No? Good, we're on the same page now.

well, that's one way out of a dry spell. R is making a roleplaying game about a chicken and now i have to write themes. i made that sound like a bad thing. i guess, i don't do a lot of themes so this is pretty new for me. the last game project i worked on, i only used 1 theme. here, i want to do leitmotives for all the characters. it's just, the only character that exists right now is gretta the hen. well, the only one with any lore anyway.
this reminds me of how grant kirkhope wrote this whole album's worth of music for "project dream" and then gregg mayles comes in one day and says, "yeah, we're making it about a bear who runs around and flies now." grant wrote big, expansive, full orchestral music for "dream", and there's this whole alternative canon in, basically, tone-poem form about a boy named Edson, his girlfriend Madeleine, and a band of pirates. well, edson became banjo, madeleine became tooty, and blackeye became gruntilda; and project dream became banjo-kazooie.

great. another musical dry spell. i'm glad it happened after i finished R and C's wedding song, but i'm useless for at least a month. i just have to keep reminding myself that ive had dry spells like this before. i always came back from them and wrote new music.

"oh im not american or british, youtube's use of AI does not affect me. therefore boycotting youtube is a stupid waste of my time." OH REALLY?? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

It took me longer than i'm willing to admit to realise how much "Vampire Killer" was influenced by "Thriller". I mean, duh. Obviously. Yamashita was told "make this game sound like all the horror films ever made", and Thriller was only the #1 record in Japan for the entire year of 1983.

my head is still set up to recognise 47 as a star trek number. so you can imagine it would take me a couple seconds to figure out why someone on tumblr who has 47's in his screenname would have a blog that's whacked shitless with far-right propaganda and AI-generated pictures of donald trump holding other world leaders in submissive postures.
yeah. before 47 meant donald treason, it meant star trek. even though we commonly credit joe menosky with introducing the 47 gag to the show, it had actually been happening all the way back in the '60s. i do, however, credit him with adding the 5 to it. joe is responsible for "547", not "47" in general.
