This way i dont have to code my status posts directly into the homepage source anymore. Index.html already looks like an accident at the pasta factory as it is, i dont need to keep piling more spaghetti onto it like that.

2024 Sept 30: 08:04
There. I had to put the iframe in a table to solve a couple of problems, but here it is. Apart from some differently-sized text, I hope you don't even notice that anything has changed.

2024 Sept 29: 15:32
I'm considering making this into an iframe that loads a TXT or simple HTML file, rather than coding status updates directly into the homepage...

REGULAR PEOPLE HOURS RESTORED!!! 🤘😆 YEAH! now i wont fall asleep promptly at 17:05 every afternoon and might actually be able to get some regular-jane work done for a change. Not today tho because its sunday.

Beyond just the code on this site being 100% human-made, I also have music and graphics on this site. THOSE were 100% human-made too. I drew every line, I wrote every note, I sang every word. Every single thing on this website, from the code on down to the typeface used to display the words, was made. by. humans. Often just 1 human: me. (I didnt make Liberation Serif tho)

2024 Sept 28: 13:08
This entire website right here was 100% human made. At no point did i ask chatgpt or any of the other information synthesisers for help. I worked on this website HARD. I wrote EVERY LINE of code from scratch. Did i use references? Did i look for case-studies? Yes, because that's part of how we learn. We look in the back of the textbook not just for the answer, but to find out where the procedure broke down that caused us to get the wrong answer before. There are some people who are seriously considering using chatgpt to write their web code for them. DON'T. Itll feel SO much better if you can come to the answer on your own, to actually achieve understanding, rather than just having a machine-learning process barf up some code. Dont you want to own your achievements? Dont you want to KNOW HOW to do stuff? Why are you settling for mediocrity? Go the extra mile. Do the work. Be better than the guy with the chatgpt-generated website.

To the person i just saw on tumblr saying they made their entire website with chatgpt like it was a point of pride: if you couldn't be arsed to learn basic html, i can't be arsed to look at what you made. I would say that it's charitable to even say that YOU made it. It's charitable to call it YOUR website. You couldn't lift a damn finger to type !DOCTYPE HTML, so you're just wasting your host's bandwidth at this point. Chatgpt really truly honestly has caused so much brain atrophy, it's atrocious. "Why should I bother to learn how to do something when i can just punch up an ai prompt and have the computer spit out some ugly-ass content? Maybe if im lucky, ill get MEDIOCRE content!" CAN YOU PEOPLE FUCKING HEAR YOURSELVES RIGHT NOW??? fuck.

What if i made graphics for the 15 essential games' anniversaries? You know, like how i had the N64 day stick. Could i find the discipline to rotate out the graphics? Well, since i have to come to the index source to write status updates, probably. Like, what, it would be hard? I can just edit the n64 day stick to say whatever the h*ck i want, change the colours and fonts, that kinda thing.

2024 Sept 28: 03:56
Ok, i can't deny it anymore. N64 Day is over. Does that mean im gonna stop playing goldeneye? Yes. Because im gonna start my annual banjo-tooie longplay :3

2024 Sept 27: 07:33
I know it's not Nintendo 64 Day anymore, but I worked slavishly on that graphic for all of 10 minutes! I'm gonna leave it there another day.

2024 Sept 26: 11:38
Actual exchange i just had with myself-- "damn i wish i could draw like that" / "you CAN draw like that, YOU DID DRAW THAT."

2024 Sept 26: 02:31
I guess I went with "Early '80s ASCII terminal" actually.

2024 Sept 26: 02:12
I guess i can take this status dash box 1 of 3 ways. I can leave it the way it is (boring), i can format it like something on Gopher (interesting), or i can make it look like actual social media (weird).

2024 Sept 25: 07:28
i can hardly believe it! i'm FINALLY done with all my appointments for the next 6 months. unless something comes up, i'm free until march!

2024 Sept 25: 04:20
would it really have killed roland corporation to have put a jaw harp into the SC-88? or to record a better steel acoustic guitar? >_>

2024 Sept 25: 04:04
It's interesting how stuff comes full circle. when my site was new, my homepage was just a directory of my blog posts. then i added pages and more entries and it started to get too cumbersome to scroll through a giant webpage to find anything, so the blog directory got its own page. now that i have my status dash here, i added a microblog back. eventually i'm gonna have to make a post archive for the microblog, so Ouroboros is going to keep eating its own tail.

2024 Sept 25: 03:56
random fact about me: the 15 min timer preset on my phone came from when i was working for the afterschool programme. 15 minutes was how long we'd have recess for and this way i didnt have to deal with the stupid iPhone-style flywheel to set the timer, i could just tap the preset. i havent worked there in almost 5 years but it's amazing how many things in everyday life need 15-min timers!

2024 Sept 25: 03:38
Test successful, status box is now online! Kinda wish I could figure out how to prevent its size being changed, but I'm working on it.
