The most fun i ever had with a smartphone was the time i sat in my task chair and took a video while spinning in it. I got so dizzy i threw up but i was having so much fun I didn't want to stop. I think i still had my iphone 6 at the time, so that was probably around 2017. Maybe the upside down hiphop jam too. I had to hold my phone in the other hand so i could play keyboard drums, so it ended up being upside down, hence "upside down hiphop jam". I keep wanting to type "jame". Your James Over.

I just spent a bunch of time trying to convince my friend to seek medical care because their parents weren't going to take them to emergency because it costs money "and, oh, we just can't afford it; maybe we'll wait and see how much we have at the end of the month". Someone on tumblr said that expensive bluetooth earphones are the reason why we're all inconsiderate to each other these days. They pointed out how we went from answering your phone in public being a social taboo to 15 people playing TikTok on full volume on the bus without earphones within the space of 10 years. Well, as cogent as that is, I maintain that motorcycles did that first. Since a motorcycle is not an enclosed space, the engine makes a great deal of noise, and the driver is most likely wearing a helmet, his blaring the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on 11 is very similar to those 15 people watching TikTok on full volume. Except motorcycles have had built-in radios and tapedecks for a lot longer than smartphones have existed. Also, yes, by removing audio utility ports and jacking up the prices of bluetooth headsets, smartphone manufacturers have played a part in our lack of consideration, but they're not the only cast member in this ensemble.

you know something? joanne rowling pushed REALLY HARD for the harry potter remake on HBOmax chiefly because daniel, rupert, and emma all pushed back against her transphobia and she wants to hard-reset her only marketable series. obvs she also thinks she can make mega money on royalties this way because her "robert galbraith" pen name isn't raking in the dough like she thought it would. you know what would be funny? if nobody watches the show, warner discovery is gonna pull it, unperson it, and probably sue joanne for half a billion dollars. she gets into this thinking she can give perpetual motion to an otherwise inert property from the late '90s, get new child actors into the piece who she can mould into transphobes, and make a couple hundred million quid in the process; and ends up walking away with david zaslav's boot prints on her arse and under 10.000 quid left in her bank account.

I keep talking about "stair runs" on my walking journal. Basically, that's just me going up and down the stairs at home every 45 minutes, rather than actually running up and down. I just walk. Today though, I actually did run on the stairs. 5 times. I didn't get so puffed that i had to collapse onto the floor... actually, I didn't really get out of breath at all. Cool!

What I said about Jenny Meecha and Tina Fairisle being in my new neighbourhood story and being 22-year-old roommates, that was wrong. Ignore that. I'm not setting my TS4 story that far into the future and Jenny Meecha is still living in Sunshine Acres with her dad and his girlfriend. Anyway, what I came up with instead is really good (to me anyway), and I'll say more when I've got more time.

No-Intro and Redump's internet archive collections are looking a bit... censored lately. it's kind of a high-profile place to keep retrogaming anyway, so i guess we have to fall back onto the old media pirate axiom: only pirates know where the hoards are. it's too bad, because now people who just want to play a GBA game that nintendo has no plans of ever selling on NSO+EP have to become pirates. removing malware that you get from a fake pirate website is just the media piracy rite of passage, and I'll say mi shebberach for you if you run any version of windows... (do I know where to find the hoards? yes, but I'm not going to tell you. not because i like keeping secrets, but because you could just as easily be a cop looking for someone to arrest or a corporate informant looking for someone's face to staple a cease-and-desist order to as someone who just wants to populate their jailbroken Wii's game library. that's your first mission: find the hoards yourself.)

i always say that only you alone are in total control of curating your online space. the hardest thing for me to accept sometimes is that i don't always fit into someone's idea of how they want their space to look. but it's the truth. if you need to take me out of your online spaces for any reason at all, you must do it. i'll get over it and your life will be better for it.

I've decided to develop that idea a bit by writing some character outlines. This is about as much as I can do without actually starting the game, since I'm separated from my studio computer at the moment. I've decided to bring back Jenny Meecha and Tina Fairisle, but that's as much borrowing from Sunshine Acres as I'm going to do. I'm not so lazy that I feel like I need to recycle ideas. Anyway, since The Sims 4 is supposedly set a bit into the future from The Sims 1 (exactly how much is up for debate, since even the developers contradict themselves here), Jenny and Tina have graduated with Bachelor's degrees and are sharing a rental house in Newcrest. Their situation is going to be similar to, but distinct from, Alexa Lauper and Siri Ronstadt from the old neighbourhood. I also used the opportunity to tie up a loose end in Sunshine Acres: Johnny went steady with Siri, but never actually re-married. Anyway, I have original ideas, but I need pictures first before I can write anything.

Giving serious consideration to making a Sunshine Acres-like story page for The Sims 4. Since personality is expressed differently and personal biographies are nonexistent in TS4, I'd mock those up for the website. Besides, this would give me an excuse to move more sims into houses so I could take pictures. I could use Powerpoint to resize and crop everything so it's uniform since TS4 is much less obliging about screenshot size than TS1. Why would I do this at all? Because of something I boasted about a few days ago: I said that, if TS4 had TS1's photo album, I could write such deep stories with such relateable characters that I'd have you crying at your computer in 5 minutes. Right now, I'm not writing anything and the excuse I gave myself was that I don't have a template. "So, make one, Tina!" I think I will. I should probably finish with Sunshine Acres first... but I'm not going to do that.

Not sure if there's a way to adjust her birthday (1991 is correct, but January 1 is not), but I still consider the precise day to be confidential information so maybe it doesn't matter.

It was windy.

La Migra sped by on Earliest Dead President Street, heading eastbound.
I got scared by the sudden appearance of the police state and changed back into my masc clothes.
I also showered to get my makeup off.
I know I wasn't in any danger, but I got a sick feeling just seeing the cars go by.
There was a severe thunderstorm warning with lots of rain and hail.
I am currently waiting to see if any tornado warnings get issued in Arkansas so I can watch the weather report in realtime.
I'm going to make from-scratch pizza for Pi Night.

Incidentally, what happened to the Car Diagnostic Fund? I'm still trying to get money into it, details can be found on my Ko-Fi page. I still don't have the car because my mum's friend is really dragging her feet on the whole "buying a new car" procedure so she can't give us her old car because she's still using it. I'm concerned that she hasn't gotten an oil change in a couple years, but an SUV from 2016 is still going to be better than a sedan from 1998, no matter what condition the lifters are in. Anyway, TL;DR, I'm still scraping and scrounging, and I don't have the car yet, so the Car Diagnostic Fund is still ongoing.

some poor* girl from across the road just got her car towed out of my flat's carpark because she didn't know this is an assigned parking zone. how could she? there's only 1 sign and it's so high up on the wall in a place that you can't possibly see from street-level at night. you can barely see it during the DAY ffs. landlord's been raising my rent for 5 straight years but somehow can't afford proper signage.

While on one hand, I'm sorry to hear that George Lowe died; on the other, I hate it when people have to suffer. I hope he wasn't spending the whole year just fading away from some illness. I remember MC Chris saying that George got hospitalised a couple years ago, then in 2024 George stopped using social media. The likelihood of him spending all that time until March 2 2025 fading away into nothingness is depressingly high. At the same time, I would hope that anyone who's ever made AI duplicates of George's voice delete them; the man deserves to rest, okay?
