I was on a call with my insurance company just now, and the guy on the phone had the cutest accent! 🥰 Possibly Congolese or Senegalese, definitely from a former French colony in Africa. It reminded me how much I loved to speak French with my Congolese co-worker at the afterschool programme, even though she had trouble understanding my broken Parisian accent. I decided early on that if I ever had to speak French with someone, I would just use an American accent. I defaulted to my schoolgirl "French instructional tape" accent occasionally though.

Apparently there's a Roland SC-55 emulator now, called Nuked SC-55. For DOS retrogaming i'm sure it's a great technological breakthrough, but for composing new music i think I'll stick to Soundcanvas-VA and Emperor Grieferus's SC55 soundfont. Mostly because Nuked SC-55 is a module emulator, not a VSTi, which is what it would need to be in order to load in a DAW, so it's more like Virtual MIDI Synth in that regard.

Having a nighttime break in our heatwave, i made Existential Crisis Scones. without nuts though, because i don't have any. i guess i should take advantage of these next couple months' worth of relatively wholesome food ingredients while we've got them. with all the USDA, FDA, and OSHA money now diverted toward border security, americans are gonna have to start getting used to finding stuff like human vomit, dead mice, tufts of hair, and dismembered fingers in our food just as a matter of course now.

1 thing i miss from Snes9x that mednafen doesnt seem to have is the ability to use 1 input device to control both players. this is mainly for SMAS+W. i like to take all the shortcuts with mario and go the scenic route with luigi in SMB1 and i just like alternating between brothers in SMW and SMB3. if this is possible, i'd very much like someone to tell me how, because double-setting both controllers doesn't seem to work.

I said once that the pirate cartoon streaming site i used to go to got shut down. Well, i should have known that was wrong. You can't kill a pirate site, they just set sail under dead of night and make port somewhere else. All they did was change their URL to something completely different from what it used to be. I checked it out, it's otherwise the same site. Same organisational system, same interface, just different colours and a new name. That's good because the TV sites i've been to are REALLY SLOW.

People often wish each other a "good weekend", but I've been in Never-Ending Weekend Hell for 5 years, 1 month, and 14 days. "Weeks" and "Weekends" are things that other people have. Normal people. People who have real lives. Statistically anomalous freaks like me are not accorded the luxury of Weeks or Weekends.

SO! i know i talk a lot about how i'm glad not to be a boring frumpy-looking man anymore. that's just because the Boring Man aesthetic wasn't for me. even though I personally didn't want to be a Boring Man doesn't mean that no one else does either. sometimes, a guy will trans his gender specifically to become a Boring Man, as ordinary as white plaster walls and slightly more interesting than low-pile carpet. that's gender euphoria to him, just as "Late-1990s Mom" is gender euphoria to me. i brought mullvad back. onto linux mint this time. nothing makes computer dilettantes like me feel like an advanced user quite so much as installing programs manually from a repository using the terminal, which you do in order to install mullvad on linux. i feel closer to the computer on a bare-metal level this way than i ever did with windows (though i love my win7 computers to death) which is by design i think. microsoft's business model relies on you treating your computer like an object rather than a person with her own needs and desires, that way you'll be more comfortable throwing your laptop in the bin and buying a new one every 2 months. anyway after conducting a network test, i spent some quality time on reddit and completed a couple archiving projects that had been eating at me. this one's for you, maia!

After being arrested for being trans in public and locked up in a men's prison with no access to her HRT, Marcy Rheintgen is free. "Traumatic experience" is too pale a description for what she's gone through over the past couple of months, and by all rights she deserves to disembowel everyone from the rent-a-cop who snitched on her on up to Governor Ronny MessPantis himself. These next few weeks are going to be full of AI chatbots telling her to kill herself and the occasional edgelord sending her pics of dead people, so what we need to do is rally around her and give her more support than ever.
She didn't ask to be a symbol of transgender liberation, all she wanted to do was wash her hands and go about her day. Nonetheless, now that she is, she needs our help. The same level of support for Kilmar, I expect to see for Marcy; they're both victims of a corrupt system that's getting more corrupt every passing day.

Despite a veritable concrete wall of opposition to Donald Treason's anti-immigrant supercharge fund, it went ahead as planned without substantial modification. It's almost as though there's a force at work here that's larger than regular people petitioning their elected officials. Something more powerful than the entire population of a major city turning out to protest. There's a word for that: "Corruption". Just like on the message boards of ould, fascism was allowed to gain a foothold in the United States government and there it played the long game. It spent 75 years biding its time, making tiny little changes here and there that wouldn't raise any red flags, until the final payoff. Protests work fast, but corruption works faster.
