it's always hard when someone i love is clearly having a hard time coping with life. it really hurts to know that i'm the cause of it. or if not THE CAUSE, then a major contributing factor. i know what i did but i wish i could just like. erase it. make it better. but i can't.

HOLY SHIT ITS ACTUALLY UP
It's called The Sims Revisited and it's only been in the works for, oh, the past 25 years. Well, not solid state obviously. The bulk of the work actually took place more or less since the beginning of April. It's not COMPLETE, mind you, just EXISTENT. But yeah, after much monotonous coding, renaming files, headaches, and ULTRAKILL breaks, the site is in a complete-enough state to be launched. It didn't happen on Friday like I thought it would, but hey! At least it happened.

My wrist is feeling better, now my head hurts. The new Sims 1 CC site is driving me batty just a bit, and I know what the problem is. It's that I can't figure out what to do for a subscriber bonus. Like, I want people to be able to give me a monthly donation on Ko-fi because of this website, right? I figure it's easier to just use the $3, $6, and $9 options that I already have set up so I don't need to create MORE work for myself. I have a $3 tier bonus and a $6 bonus made, I'm just getting hung up on what the $9 bonus should be. I mean, sure, donating $9 will get you the bonuses from both tiers before it, but there needs to be another bonus on top of that. Something that makes you look at it and go "that's the best $9 I've ever spent". Well, 9x12, cos you know, monthly donation. Something that's worth your time and money. I don't want to waste your money with some fuckass object recolour, and like, I can MAKE new objects, I just can't do it in the time I gave myself to do all the work. I gave myself until 24th April. SO, LIKE, TOMORROW.
Anyway, Riza and I got my mum's old CRT TV into the dining room and we got the Wii connected up to it. We kind of suffer through Wii Room (it doesn't work reliably), but this really is the best place to play some of these old games. As I understand it, CRT TV sets are... like hella expensive now? And I just had one lying around? So why not use it for something?

My wrist hurts, so I probably shouldnt be using computers today. But is that going to stop me? Probably not. I still have prep work to do on the Sims Classic site so I can launch it on Friday. ULTRAKILL probably has something to do with my wrist hurting but, hey, at least I managed to pull off the challenge in 2-1! Going the route I did, you can also bypass all of the fights, so you take no damage providing you don't fall into the void.

I feel like my mum doesn't believe my gender transition is anything more than kayfabe, like this is just a character I turn on and turn off at leisure. Lately, she's been he/him'ing me more than usual, deadnaming me more than usual, she used to correct herself, anymore though most times she doesn't. And it's not just me anymore, it's Riza, too. It was bad enough when it was just me, but it's driving Riza to depression and I can totally understand why. I tried bringing it up with mum just now and I could see the wall go up, the glazed look appear in her eyes, and like. I'm not trying to be critical or insulting or whatever else, I'm trying to say "this is how it is, please adjust your language." I'm not expecting any different of her than she expected of me whenever she told me to stop saying "fuckin'" extragrammatically in grade school. This is not a difficult thing, it's certainly not worth getting angry or defensive about. But the way she treats our gender transition like it's a new computer program she's being forced to use is really not helping my self-worth any. Neither are the theatrics she does whenever I ask her to correct herself in conversation. Why is this so hard? Even for a 70-something? What, you want to go back to being a baptist? Go back to pretending rock'n'roll is devil music? Start voting for republicans? There's only one character being played right now, mum, and YOU'RE playing it.

idky tadc fandom wants jax to be transfem so much. its pretty clear that if he's trans anything it's transmasc. i mean the business with the maid outfit for a start. my personal fan theory is AGAC. Assigned gender at circus. In realspace, he was suffering from gender dysphoria, probably body dysphoria too, but when he gets brought to the circus, caine reads him as fully masc. zooble's profile was ambiguous, so caine gives them the ability to re-form themself like a realspace Mr. Potato Head, but jax was masc in his mind and caine unknowingly gave him the gender transition he always wanted. im not going to force people to believe this. im also not going to threaten goose for not divining my headcanon.

i wrote 2 new tutorials for the sims 1 site yesterday. it's going to be kind of hard for TSLE players to follow some of these especially when it comes to more complex customising and mods, since windows 10 and 11 dont have (and are not generally compatible with) the old libraries and runtimes that the original modding tools need.
I did mention that we need to completely rebuild TS1's modding tools for modern computers, didnt i? cos we really do.

The new Sims 1 fansite has a name, a page layout, and an 88x31 now. I'm trying to get at least one story, themed set, and tutorial made before I launch it. I'm also thinking about upgrading to supporter on Nekoweb, depending on how large the site gets, but the pitiful amount of storage space you get even with the supporter tier has put a stop to migrating the LCI Mini-Site. 500 megabytes is not great. 10 gigabytes isn't great either. Once upon a time, I was going to put all my old Bandcamp and Itch.io stuff onto the Internet Archive. I'm not real sure what happened to that tbh.
The fansite is going to be the release venue for the Sunshine Acres stories. Since the Besties household story starts in high school, I used the opportunity to make a few school-related objects so I could stage the shots better. But, yeah, we get to see Alexa as a blonde and we can put faces to the names of "Chloe", "Melissa", and "Janeane" now.

if you can believe your eyes, ears, and extremities, im actually working on the sims 1 cc site! it will not be hosted on neocities because of various esoteric reasons mostly having to do with its squishy stance on AI training. also nekoweb doesnt put restrictions on filetypes so i can actually PUT downloads onto the site, rather than just pictures of downloads. while superficially similar to this site (ie. i reused some header code and colour values), it is not going to look like this. also css is a royal pain in the ass.

some cc i installed for the sims 1 recently somehow disabled goureaud shading for the entire game. idk how but i have a sneaking suspicion it was House Maximus. theres a lot wrong with that one, including a missing carpool spawner. it was bad enough i needed to reinstall the game. it fixed the problem tho, so i can carry on playing, making stuff, and pretend to start that much talked about ts1 cc site.

Happy 2nd anniversary to the official beginning of the federiefederi Neocities clout-chasing scheme!
On this day in 2024, federiefederi pretended to convert their website into something like the old Neocities Districts that paved the way for their destruction. They advertised it as something like "big changes to the website" and then renamed all their directories so you couldn't access the rest of their site. Half the people following them were convinced they got "districted" (ie. put on "hiatus" and then abandoned), a quarter of them remembered it was April Fool's Day, and the other quarter didnt' care. Anyway, they used their big comeback after the prank ran its course to transition seamlessly into the clout-chasing scheme. Slightly more than 2 weeks later, they were gone.
