Since the election was called for Trump, I've seen some very alarmist takes on Tumblr that I feel need to be addressed. The fact that most of these takes originate from screenshots of Xitter should give anyone pause, but since they haven't, let's talk about them.

While oestrogen is not a controlled substance under American law, it tends to have a fairly short shelf-life. Taking expired oestradiol will reduce its effectiveness.
This person has suggested that transgender and gender-nonconforming people should evacuate the country. I can't even begin to express how bourgeois this take is. Just applying for a passport costs $180, plus $20 more at Walgreens getting your passport photo taken. That's $200 just to get the passport, which immediately prices out everyone I personally know who is trans/GNC. A couple of my disabled Tumblr mutuals pointed out that Canada isn't going to allow a disabled person of any tax bracket to immigrate to their country. "So, go somewhere they will accept you?" With what money? Physically disabled people in the US aren't considered for jobs, even the "sit at home" answering service type jobs, so you can bet that people on disability won't be able to fly out of the country, let alone even get a passport that will allow them disembark when they get there. Plus, emptying the country of trans and GNC people is, like, exactly what the republicans want to have happen. Even if you're able-bodied and you have a job that pays enough to let you emigrate, don't. Your trans brothers and sisters and your non-binary sibbies need all the help we can get, especially now. Don't abandon us.

By contesting ballots from swing states and encouraging his followers to disrupt the democratic process, Trump is demonstrably guilty of election tampering, and this is before we even bring Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin into the picture. No. Look, I get the irony here, and I understand how you could come to a take like this. But it is not the same, at all. On January 6th, 2021, Donald Trump encouraged his followers to mass on the Capitol and buffalo the congress into de-certifying Joe Biden's election. During the democratic process, Biden behaved lawfully; he did not commit election fraud, neither did he convince anyone to commit crime on his behalf. On November 5th, 2024, and the weeks leading up to it, Trump encouraged his followers to disrupt the process while he personally invented reasons why swing-state ballots should be thrown out. As I said before, Trump is demonstrably guilty of election tampering. Biden did not tamper with the election to get votes, whereas Trump has interfered with the democratic process on 3 separate occasions. So, if you don't want to encourage the Biden administration to begin a fraud investigation and disqualify Trump because you're concerned about looking like the leftist version of January 6th, put that thought out of your mind. January 6 was done by people trying to install a fascist dictator, whereas we the people are now attempting to prevent the installation of a fascist dictator by bringing federal attention to his criminal actions.
