riza's employer fucked up, caused them to need to go to emergency, and now it's punishing them for its own mistakes. this giant corporation has demanded so much of riza's time, wasted so much of their life over the past 2 months, and now it's chewed them up and spat them out like stale gum. and for what? a few cents above the state-mandated minimum wage and free access to a streaming service? this corporation is worth $700 BILLION, they can afford to give basic protective equipment like personal misting fans, sunscreen, and white long-sleeve teeshirts to every single one of their employees, but instead they just send people out to pick up rubbish from the verge during an extreme heat emergency and then punish them for nearly passing out from dehydration as they have to cross the cavernous store in 45 seconds with a large machine in tow. if i say much more, i run the risk of doxxing us. suffice to say, giant multinational corporations make their money by standing on top of heaping great piles of disposeable plebs. riza is in that pile and it's tearing us both to shreds.

riza and i went out and got 10 TB of physical storage today! this will truly revolutionise our datahoarding endeavours. now i can copy as many DVDs as i please without needing to worry about space! it'll be good to get all those films back that i used to have on cassette (well, except for 1 film that must not be named, if you catch my drift). anyway, this server is expandable, so expect another 10 TB sometime in the relatively near future.

they also got a standalone digital camera for themself and they took us out for lunch at the mongolian grill where we probably had WAY too much protein, carbs, and salt :P

anyway, yes. more datahoarding to commence soon.

So, it's possible that Sable wasn't a barn spider after all, but instead a European garden spider (A. diadematus). Both this and A. cavaticus are orb weavers, it's just they have different markings. Honestly, it's hard to tell from the pictures I took. My phone wanted to focus on the window blinds rather than the spider and turning on the flash washed her out completely. Also, the university's extension office says that both A. diadematus and cavaticus are native to this area, so I don't know. Honestly, it doesn't really matter. Sable went missing about a week ago and I haven't seen her since :(

I like how the AP News picture for the extreme heat emergency in the US is a crowded beach. 1: no beaches in the parts of the US affected by this. 2: when there's heat indices of 114°F and insanely high UV levels, the absolute last place you want to be is outside on UV-reflective sand or in UV-absorbing water. Anyway, there might not be beaches, per se, but there's public swimming pools in the affected areas. Honestly, if you go to the pool during the heat warning, and you have to go to emergency or you get a 5-alarm sunburn, don't come crying to me. You could have stayed at home and played ULTRAKILL, but no, you went out to play when it was mass-extinction degrees outside.

(Please note: this criticism does not apply to workers whose employers make them go outside in performance of their work duties. You deserve better than this job that treats you less like a person than a name on a chart. It only applies to people who willingly go outdoors for avoidable summer leisure activities.)

So, Pokémon Go turned 10 this year. I didn't realise so much time had passed. I wrote once that time stopped for me in November 2016-- well things happened between writing that and now that made me realise that, no, it really was 10 years ago. 16-yo high school kids who were crashing their bikes in the park are 26 now. 21-yo language students are 31-yo translators now. I personally was a scruffy 25-yo man who looked like he fell out of a Reddit meme about Warcraft gamers and now I'm a 35-yo woman with high-end DD's and a website.

Time passed. Things changed. Shit happened. We got better.

Since my last Tomodachi Life 1 game log, Mickey and Abby Liefeld have had 2 more kids. So far, they're the only ones of 5 married couples who seem any kind of interested in children. Like, come on guys, you're 21 and 25, stop with the procreation, huh? Anyway, their latest daughter's name is Savannah (randomly generated by the game), following Melissa and Allison. What's with their fascination with double letters? Ohh well. Ii guess itt doessn't really matter.

I swear I have nothing but contempt for Riza's employer. This is a huge company, rakes in easily billions of dollars in pure profit every quarter, could afford to give them a $50 per hour salary, but instead it sends them out to the carpark to pick up random rubbish out of the grass during the hottest day of this godforsaken profit-driven heatwave without even providing them with sunscreen. If they hadn't already had a sunhat, they would have been out there in the insanely high UV count without any protection of any kind. I am not exaggerating when I say that Riza is the only thing holding that building together, and if they left or got fired, that branch would go out of business inside a week. This company doesn't know how lucky it is to have Riza working for it. Plainly it doesn't know, otherwise they'd be making more per hour than less than $1 over the legally-mandated minimum wage (which Trump's tangle of toadies is currently trying to do away with entirely, at which point the company will probably stop paying its employees anything at all).

Just in case you were wondering, the comic is going to end up in fanfic 2. it's not exactly verbatim at this stage, but i've referred to it.

Why talk about this at all? Because there's this preoccupation with getting on E and growing huge boobs, but that's not a guarantee. There's way too much "flat chested boy becomes hyper-busty girl" representation out there in basically all fanon everywhere, I wanted to write a trans girl who doesn't want boobs. AT. ALL. 'Cos yeah, Jax has admin privileges, she can access her own character file, she could give herself a chest like anyone from Anna Kendrick to Beshine if she wanted to. But she doesn't. Just calling herself a girl and dressing fem is gender euphoria for her. Tbh, in the cold open of the next fic, I'm going to write a bit where she experiments with different body shapes in the privacy of her own room, and it just galvanises her desire to not change.

I think I need to rearrange my blorbo shrine, gamers. Jax is outpacing Tina Belcher right now.

I have an outline set for the 2nd TADC fanfic, and a first page. It's based on a videogame idea I've had for a while, but I decided that since I don't know anyone who is actually able to make videogames, I'd use it for the fic instead.

Also, I'm kinda regretting not getting into Minecraft back when I got my studio computer. Now it's too late, cos there's a whole subscription model and age verification and required internet connection bullshit to deal with now. I definitely need new RAM in that thing, it's still running on the 8 GB of factory RAM, and I bet The Sims 4 would load a lot better on 16 GB (possibly 32, I don't remember what the max amount for my CPU is offhand)

I already have an idea for the next TADC fanfic. Without giving too much away, we're going back to the adventures... but, like Caine said in FF1 Part 4, it's up to the circus performers to come up with adventures now. And one of our performers has a very impressive imagination 🎭

I also have a few ideas for a new performer. But, they probably won't be in FF2.

"Lindsay Graham is fucking dead." That was a fun sentence to say to Riza this morning. Kinda weird that he would knock off before Mitch McConnell (who to the best of my knowledge has not responded to Andy Beshear's request for verification that he is still alive), but whatever. They're mourning him in Israel if that tells you anything.

In any case, Trump's supporters within the government are dying out, which is a nice thing to think about first thing in the morning.

It doesn't stop the fact that Riza only got 3 hours sleep and now they have to go to work, which sucks beyond belief. But at least Lindsay Graham is fucking dead.

i dont have much hope that ill ever be able to finish the audiobook. i put out a casting call under a faulty premise: that anyone who sounds like that and does voice acting is ever going to see it. it already got the 1 sympathy like on tumblr and thats all its gonna get there.

once i finish my dialogue recording, that's it. i cant just magically sound like pomni or ragatha or gangle or caine. maybe caine, but i don't want to take too many roles for myself. i only have 1 voice, riza only has 1 voice, we can't both do the entire cast by ourselves.

but yeah, this is gonna be exactly like "Lockdown 2: Electric Avenue". i had a casting call open for that on tumblr for like 2 years and finally it stopped being relevant. i know there's PoC who can sing like eddy grant, its just none of them ever saw that post because i have a social media reach of 0 people.

idk i might do caine's voice myself. it depends on how long it's taking to cast that role. im gonna record my dialogue tomorrow. i hope i can get another va on board by next week.

"Why do an audiobook at all?" because i lie awake at night worried that someone is going to get tired of reading and have firefox reader view read it for them, which will completely kill the intonation, pacing, and emotion of the entire piece. with an audiobook version, done by live voices acting from a screenplay, it should enhance the experience rather than destroy it.

Well, we started out with 3 barn spiders in our garden 2 months ago; I named them Sable, Mabel, and Label after the Abel Sisters from Animal Crossing. Unfortunately, Label starved to death in her web under our pepper plant. To be fair, that wasn't a great place for a web since there was basically no bug traffic through there. Mabel went missing shortly thereafter but briefly came back about 4 days ago. Again, that wasn't a great place for a web; it was all exposed, being out there attached to one of the plant pots and the rain gutter. Also, she built it basically in the middle of the day, so I'm reasonably sure she got eaten by one of the robins. Sable however manages to stick around. We keep inadvertently destroying her guidewires whenever we move the grill, so she's shifted locations a few times. Now, she's on the porch screen. We keep our sitting room light on all night and I guess it's a pretty big draw for flying bugs.

Sometimes, the bugs in our garden are a mystery, but not this one. Araneus cavaticus, the common barn spider.

I've been watching Star Trek (namely TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT) my entire adult life. And, you want to know something?

It's never sat right with me that photon torpedoes have nothing to do with photons. I mean, they emit light as part of a controlled matter/antimatter explosion, but they otherwise have nothing to do with photons. Especially in a universe where everything is quickly explainable, we're still calling our matter/antimatter warheads "photon torpedoes".

I submit that there was a pre-Federation defence contractor called Photon Group (because money is explicitly part of the original series's universe). After Enterprise NX-01's mission, Photon Group developed new weapons to take care of all the bad guys that NX-01 kept stumbling upon, and they hit upon a small-scale warp core explosion, contained in a 6-foot long missile. When the Federation was founded, Starfleet acquired Photon Group under Section 30 of the charter, and the torpedoes became colloquially known as "Photon torpedoes", because captains and tactical officers had to distinguish between the regular Starfleet merculite torpedoes and the Photon antimatter torpedoes.

Please note, if the naming conventions behind photon torpedoes were explained in one of the retconny new series, I wouldn't know because I've never seen any of that lot and I have no plans of doing so.

i'm really worried about riza's and my mutual friend. his parents constantly abuse, manipulate, and gaslight him over tiny little stuff like not wanting to get sick when they bring home some kind of germ, and now he's basically been forced into this rehab programme he didn't want to go to because there were no other options. the programme isn't doing anything except teaching him how everything that his parents have ever done to him is his fault actually because "oh if you weren't a bad person, they wouldn't be doing bad things to you". yeah, fuck that neo-evangelist shite up the arse and back 10 ways 'til doomsday. saying that he's on his last nerve is like saying that someone holding onto the last 3 inches of rope for dear life can still be dragged around some more.

more and more i'm realising that THIS is why disability pride month exists. especially now that donald treason and four-humours kennedy are looking into how best to institutionalise a quarter of a billion disabled people at taxpayers' expense. there's already something like 10 million people with physical and/or mental disabilities being institutionalised, most of whom are there against their will. their agency as humans has been stripped away from them and put in the control of a succession of people who drive fancy cars, each passing their case off like it's a neverending game of four-square, syphoning money away before kicking them to the kerb and pretending they never existed.

don't let's lose sight of 1 indisputable fact: this was a problem LONG before donald trump was ever anything more than a name on a hotel. from the dawn of capitalism, disabled people have been written off as burdens on society and placed in institutions to rot. in the middle ages, you would get sent to an asylum where nuns would hit you with sticks as friars preached how disease is punishment. in the modern day, your parents send you up the rehab programme that costs $500 a day where the psychologists tell you how much pain and anguish you've brought to your parents by being so disobedient.

if you take nothing else away from disability pride month, take this: neither "disabled" nor "neurodivergent" are synonyms for "worthless".

as for our friend? i'm trying to remind him that he isn't doing his parents wrong by simply existing. if anyone should be apologising for anything, it's his parents for treating him like this for so many years. but they won't do that. they had better hope i don't ever meet them, because I WILL hold them accountable, quite possibly against a wall in an alleyway with my car's high-beams.

I have been consistently stuck in TADC since 19th June. I don't know if that's good or bad. I mean, it's inspired me to write and draw, so that's good. But I'm kind of ignoring everything else. I haven't played The Sims for that whole amount of time, made a single new piece of TS1 CC, or drawn anything in Swapnote that isn't Jax. Well, not everything else... I have been playing Ultrakill pretty extensively. i just can't make it past level 17 on cybergrind, which is kind of humiliating considering Riza is on, what, level 25? And we've been playing this game for the same amount of time?

Anyway, I've found a decent place to start part 5, plus it'll facilitate the story's end. I know I said on my Neocities profile that I figure on 6 or 7 parts to this, but I'm ending it after 5. The stuff I had planned for parts 6 and 7 would be better off in their own stories.

even though i love the jax plushie that riza got for me, i think at this stage that if i want anymore tadc merch, im gonna need to make it myself. even if that means getting a 3D printer and model paint and learning how to build ball-and-socket joints. based on their recent advert, glitch can't be trusted with jax anymore. they're marketing to the 1 girl i saw at hot topic wearing a gryffindor backpack who was buying a pomni figurine, not the 1000s of actual trans girls who were actually watching the show.

also, come on. $5 for a sticker? 1 sticker? come the fuck on. i could spend $5 on 1 single sticker or i could spend $20 on a pack of mailing labels and an x-acto knife and just print my own gd stickers.

but yeah, based on the fact there was a girl wearing a piece of Hairy Pothole merch buying a piece of merch from a show that's demonstrably 80% queer, there's enough tonedeaf people out there to make glitch a few fat stacks before this is over.

before you start saying "gay pride month is over, now it's time for gay wrath month", remember that july is disability pride month. able-bodied people can identify how we contribute to ableism and anti-disability discrimination in amongst various other esoteric things.

but also consider that TGLB+ people and disabled people are in the same boat, in the US anyway. donald treason and four-humours kennedy are trying to institutionalise every disabled person at the same time that they're trying to force gay people into christofascist conversion therapy and force trans people to detransition by making HRT components extremely expensive and medicaid impossible to get unless you're aged 75. now imagine that you're trans and disabled. i know 3 such people. we all have targets on our backs, so don't throw your disabled brothers, sisters, and nonbinary siblings under the bus just because the month ticked over.

Since Sean Chiplock is starring in a new Bubsy game, someone needs to make a new Gex game starring Michael Kovach. The last level is the Videogame Dimension where Gex has to spring Bubsy from the dimension as well, then the last image after the staff roll finishes is the furry art Sean commissioned last year. You know, the one I wrote the song about?

Why does the voice of N and Jax need to be Gex? Well, because it'd be fun. Also, he sounds enough like Dana Gould to pull it off.

Of course, now that I've said any of that, I need to mention that I hereby release this idea into the public domain, so you can make this and not need to worry about me suing you for IP infringement.

so, some context for that comic from yesterday. joyflameball @ tumblr said "Shoutout to tgirl Jax art that does not change her proportions at all. That girl is a rectangle and it's awesome". When i saw that post 2 days ago, i basically immediately started storyboarding that comic in my head. Because yeah, lot of emphasis is put on bigger boobs when you transition. well, transitioning is not going to make most girls get DDD+. Honestly, some girls don't even care about their bustline, just as long as they can look, dress, and act feminine. i figured, jax is one of those girls. She's probably developed this whole alternative sense of balance in the Circus so she can pull off all that Looney Tunes stuff and, right. big boobs are going to alter that balance. at first, it was just going to be jax talking to someone, probably pomni, and that was kept, but i decided later on that we needed someone else in the background. at first it was going to be ragatha, but as i was taking screengrabs for references, i paused on a bit where gangle's arms are curled into perfect circles... so, we arrive at this.
